About the Role

SachetsCo is a Sydney-based contract manufacturer operating across sachet filling, blending, product development and selected packing formats for food, beverage, wellness, sports nutrition, cosmetics and personal care. This is a practical, on-site role based in Frenchs Forest, Sydney NSW 2086. You will be working directly with the machinery that runs our production, not in a remote support or advisory capacity.

This opportunity may also suit an experienced packaging field service engineer, senior maintenance fitter, mechatronics technician or automation technician with strong hands-on packaging machinery experience.

This position also provides practical first-line support for the digital and IT systems used by the factory and office, while specialists remain responsible for major development, security and regulated work.

We are looking for a capable, hands-on engineer to set up, run, troubleshoot and maintain our packaging machinery and ancillary equipment, including machine changeovers, filling and sealing settings, preventive maintenance, technical records and operator training. You will be the primary technical resource for mechanical and electrical issues on the production floor and you will be expected to take full ownership of outcomes.

Purpose

Set up, run, troubleshoot and maintain SachetsCo's sachet, stick-pack and other packaging machinery. Own machine changeovers, commissioning, preventive maintenance, reliability, technical records, operator training and continuous improvement.

Essential Experience

• 5 or more years of hands-on experience in packaging, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, cosmetics or FMCG machinery environments.
• Installation, commissioning, breakdown response and preventive maintenance of production machinery.
• Sachet, stick-pack, form-fill-seal or flexible-packaging machinery.
• Auger, volumetric or weighing systems; powder filling; relevant pump and piston filling.
• Mixers, blenders, mills, sifters, conveyors, compressors and coders.
• Film tracking, eyemark registration, sealing jaws, heaters and thermocouples.

Hands-on Machine Operation and Mechanical Responsibilities

• Set up and run sachet and stick-pack filling and sealing machinery for trials and production runs.
• Carry out product and format changeovers, fit change parts and adjust film tracking, filling settings, sealing temperature, pressure and dwell time within approved operating procedures.
• Check fill accuracy, seal quality, coding and machine performance during production, and record settings, checks and adjustments.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, filling and sealing faults; identify root causes and reduce repeat breakdowns.
• Plan and perform preventive maintenance, inspect wear parts, maintain spares and service records, and coordinate specialist repairs where required.
• Follow machine guarding, isolation, safe work and cleaning procedures. Escalate electrical or other regulated work to appropriately qualified and authorised specialists.
• Train operators in safe setup, operation, changeovers and routine checks, and support production handover.

Qualifications and Experience

Relevant trade, Advanced Diploma or degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, automation, industrial or manufacturing engineering plus 5 or more years of relevant experience. An exceptional candidate with 8 or more years of proven packaging-machinery field service, commissioning, maintenance and controls experience may substitute experience for a conventional degree.
